Interview With: Jennifer Ford
of Taylorville, IL

What did you like most about the course?

The course was easy to understand. I also enjoyed the freedom to take my time and, if needed, return to the course at my leisure.

What was your biggest takeaway from the course?

Knowing that what I have learned over the past 21 years in real estate helped confirm my beliefs that sellers, although sometimes difficult to communicate to them, need to know that clean, well kept homes do sell faster and for more money than other homes.

What actions did you take from applying what you learned in the course?

This Sunday there will be a press release in my local newspaper announcing my designation and the fact that I am the county's first accredited stager.

I have also added my designation to our web site. My fellow Realtors in our office are coming to me and asking me if it's alright to mention to their prospective sellers that they have access to a AHS, in case my services are needed.

What results did you create from applying what you learned?

My broker asked me to go over to her new listing and give my staging opinions to her seller. The sellers were very receptive and did everything I suggested. She then held an open house and it was very successful. Although the listing is still active, it's only been on the market a week and there are two prospective buyers interested.

If you would recommend the course to others, please express why with a few words:

The course is well written, easy to understand and gives you the freedom to complete the course when you have time. As a wife, mother and grandmother to 6 (7 in 3 weeks)and as the office manager for the real estate company I work for, plus being a Realtor, it sometimes is very hard to have enough hours in the day to complete everything.

If you could learn about or master one additional skill to help you as an agent, what would it be?

Probably how to handle short sales. With the economy in the condition it is, we are seeing more and more foreclosures. It would be nice to help sellers understand that short sales are much better than losing their property to the bank!
